Policy documents

Difference between certificate and schedule

Certificate is legal proof you're insured. Schedule is the personalised summary of cover.

Two documents arrive with every new policy and they're easy to confuse.

📜Certificate of insurance

The legal proof of cover. Lists the registered keeper, vehicle registration, classes of use, and minimum third-party cover. Police can ask to see it. Many businesses (employer, lender) ask for it as proof.

📋Policy schedule

Your personalised summary of cover. Lists named drivers, premium, excess amounts, add-ons, No Claim Bonus years, and any insurer-specific endorsements. This is the working document you'd refer to day to day.
