Claims & incidents

What if the other driver is uninsured?

Your own insurer steps in if you're comprehensive. Otherwise claim against the Motor Insurers' Bureau.

If an uninsured driver hits you, you're still covered — just through a different route depending on your policy.

🛡️If you have comprehensive cover

Claim through your own insurer as normal — open the policy, tap Manage Policy → Claims & Support → Make a Claim. They'll repair your vehicle (you pay your excess) and chase the Motor Insurers' Bureau on your behalf to recover the money.

📝If you have third-party-only cover

Claim directly against the Motor Insurers' Bureau — the industry's safety net for uninsured and untraced drivers. They walk you through the claim form at mib.org.uk.
