HOW DO I CHANGE THE USE OF MY VEHICLE?
You can change the use of your vehicle at any time, directly through My Portal.
It is a legal requirement to ensure all details on your policy are correct and accurate, including the use of your vehicle against your type of cover.
To change the use of your vehicle, select the policy you would like to make the adjustment to, followed by the ‘Manage Policy’ button and then ‘Manage your Policy’ in the pop up.
Next, select ‘Update Van Use’ from the options available and complete the form by entering the class of use details.
You will normally receive an instant quotation for the change, which you can review prior to confirmation. In some cases, an agent is required to review this and the change will be submitted as a request. Requests are usually fulfilled within the same working day, however they can take up to two working days.
To make things easier for you, we have outlined the six simple steps you need to take in order to change the use of your vehicle below:
1OPEN THE MY PORTAL APP
2SELECT THE REQUIRED POLICY
3TAP ON ‘MANAGE POLICY’
4CHOOSE ‘MANAGE YOUR POLICY’
5TAP ON ‘UPDATE VAN USE’
6COMPLETE THE FORM
For changes made through the online portal, there will be a reduced admin fee of £40.
Your premium may increase, decrease or stay the same depending the underwriters risk criteria based on the new details.
If your insurer determines that the new use for your vehicle is in a higher risk category, this would likely increase your premium. An example of this may be changing form a Social, Domestic and Pleasure policy to a Commercial level of cover. The difference in premium would be required to be paid in order to maintain cover.
If your insurer determines that the new use for your vehicle falls into a lower risk category, your premium is likely to decrease. An example of this may be changing the class of use from Haulage to Carriage of Own Goods. You would receive a refund for this difference or have your monthly instalments adjusted accordingly.
In many cases, your premium will remain the same and you would only be required to pay the admin fee.
